WhatsApp’s has been introducing new features, this year. With a series of back to back new updates on its platform.
Well !! yet again WhatsApp has introduced a new feature for its group privacy, where a user can control who can now add them into a group.
Earlier, everybody used to add a contact on any group, even after an update a few months back where only admins had control over it yet the issue of uninvited adding in groups existed.
So, this time Whats App has introduced a new feature, where the contacts have the control who can add them in a group.
WhatsApp announced that now users will have control over “Group Features”, enabling them privacy and comfort from nuances of getting added into the uninvited group.
To avail this feature you need to install the latest version of WhatsApp on your set. For Android, the version is 2.19.308 and for iPhone, it is 2.19.112. This update is available on Android Google Play Store and App Store for iPhone users.
How to use it
If you wish to activate this feature and want control over the group privacy. You need to follow these steps:
- Go to “settings”
- Then, tap on “accounts”
- Then, click on “Privacy” and select the “Groups” option
- You would three options available: “Everyone”, “My Contacts” and ” My Contact Except”. You can select the option based on your preferences.
- Click Done
P.S: If you don’t want to change the settings by default it will be selected for ” Everyone”.
If you choose “My Contacts Except”, then, an admin won’t be able to add you into any random group available on WhatsApp.
Instead, the admin first needs to send you a private invite through a personal or individual chat and lets you decide whether you want to join or not.
You will have three days to accept the invite before it expires, says WhatsApp in a press release.
P.S: “My Contacts Except” option will allow you to choose to exclude specific contacts or “select all”.
